Your day begins well before sunrise, with the Peaks Vista team preparing everything you need to start your trek refreshed. As the first light of day breaks over the horizon, a team member will deliver a basin of warm water to your tent for a quick face wash and teeth brushing. This thoughtful touch helps you feel fresh and ready for the day ahead.
To warm you up, a hot beverage—whether it’s tea, coffee, or something else—will be waiting for you. We know that starting the day with a warm drink is essential to get your energy flowing, especially in the cooler morning temperatures at higher altitudes.
After your wake-up routine, you’ll head to the mess tent for breakfast. Here, we gather as a group for a daily briefing where we go over the plan for the day, talk about the terrain ahead, and conduct a quick health check to ensure everyone is in good condition for the hike.
While you enjoy a hearty breakfast, this is also a great time to top up your water bottles or hydration systems. Hydration is key, and our staff is always ready to remind you of this crucial step.
Once the health checks are complete and the group is all set, we’ll begin the trek, typically around 8 am. Trekking poles in hand, we will hike at a slow-to-moderate pace, with the pace carefully set to help with acclimatization and avoid fatigue. Our guides will frequently remind you to go “pole pole” (slowly, slowly) to ensure that everyone stays together and can adjust to the altitude properly.
During the morning hike, we’ll make regular stops to rest, hydrate, and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. The team will remain behind to break camp, but they’ll likely catch up to you along the way as they move quickly to set up the next camp for your arrival.
Upon arrival at camp, you’ll find your tent already set up and your duffel bag waiting inside. It’s important to change out of any damp clothing, whether it’s from rain or sweat, to stay comfortable and prevent chilling at high altitudes. Once you’re settled in, roll out your sleeping bag to give it time to fluff up, ensuring that it provides maximum warmth for the night ahead.
In the afternoon, there may be an optional acclimatization hike, where we’ll trek to a higher elevation before returning to camp to rest. This “hike high, sleep low” strategy helps your body adjust to the altitude. Alternatively, if the day’s hike was enough, you can relax, enjoy the surroundings, and prepare for the next day.
After your afternoon rest or acclimatization hike, head over to the mess tent for a well-deserved tea time snack, accompanied by a hot beverage. We always ensure you have plenty of energy to relax and unwind.
An early dinner will be served, followed by another medical check and a briefing about the next day’s hike. After dinner, most trekkers choose to crawl into their sleeping bags for an early night’s rest. If you prefer a bit more social time, the mess tent is a cozy, well-lit spot where you can journal, read, or chat with fellow trekkers.
By the end of each day, whether you’re enjoying tea with your fellow trekkers or drifting off to sleep, you’ll have the confidence that you’re well taken care of—giving you the energy you need for the next day’s climb.
