After registration at Machame Gate, the trek begins through dense rainforests, where you’ll be surrounded by rich flora and fauna. The trail gently ascends, crossing streams and lush vegetation. You’ll stop for a hot lunch before continuing to Machame Camp, nestled in the forest, where you’ll enjoy your first dinner on the mountain.

Leaving the rainforest, you enter the moorland zone, where the landscape opens up to reveal stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Shira Plateau. As you ascend, you’ll notice the changing terrain and unique plant life. By the afternoon, you’ll reach Shira Camp, where you’ll spend the night, acclimatizing to the higher altitude.

This day involves a challenging ascent to Lava Tower (4,630m), an excellent point for acclimatization. The tower offers magnificent views of the surrounding area. After a short break at Lava Tower, you’ll descend into the Barranco Valley to Barranco Camp, providing a chance for your body to adjust to the altitude while enjoying the dramatic scenery.

Today, the trek begins with the ascent of the Barranco Wall, a steep, non-technical climb that offers panoramic views of the valley below.
